12/01/2006 - Five stars for five circles

A little over three years from the start of the ambitious project, the GOLDEN PALACE, the first luxury five-star of the Piedmont capital, owned by AEDES, one of Italy’s oldest publicly traded property companies, and the third Turin hotel of the TURIN HOTELS INTERNATIONAL company, which operates in the luxury hotel and restaurant sector, is a reality that is opening up new tourism and congress prospects for Turin, which is already looking to the “post-2006 Olympics”.

The opening ceremony and the ribbon-cutting took place today, 12 January 2006, at 11:30 a.m., in the presence of Turin Mayor Sergio Chiamparino, who in July 2002 announced the project for the reconversion of the building in Via dell’Arcivescovado, formerly the headquarters and executive offices of Toro Assicurazioni in Turin..

Playing host were Alfio Noto and Luca Castelli, President and CEO of AEDES, and Amato Ramondetti, President of TURIN HOTELS INTERNATIONAL, which, in partnership with AEDES, oversaw the restructuring of the new hotel and acquired its management. Political, economic and industrial leaders of the city and the media were be present.

The realisation of the new hotel, located in the heart of the Turin financial district, just steps away from the city’s famed Piazza San Carlo and Piazza Solferino, involved an overall investment of approximately € 59 million.

The work was directed by a temporary association of companies formed by the ROSSO and CON.PIEM. firms, according to plans and interior design by Studio Simonetti & Associati of Rimini.

The hotel covers an area of 18,000 m2 and is made up of two buildings – GoldenOne and GoldenTwo – for a total of 195 rooms and suites of various types, with sober furnishings and delicate hues inspired by the colours of the Olympic metals, a restaurant, a lounge bar, an 850 m2 Wellness Club entrusted to the experience of CAROLI HEALTH CLUB, a prestigious name in the wellness and fitness sector, a private garage and a congress centre featuring rooms with variable capacities that can be adapted to a wide range of needs.

For THI – which in Turin also boasts the historic Turin Palace Hotel and the Grand Hotel Sitea, as well as the Ristorante del Cambio – the project is a new achievement and at the same time the launch of a new philosophy. The Golden Palace, which will be run by Massimo Celegato, a young manager with experience gained also in the Far East, aims to offer itself as a beacon of top quality Turin hospitality, and also as a magnet for the city itself in accordance with the new concept of “city hotel”.
