30/06/2004 - The San Clemente Palace in Venice presents the gourmet Restaurant Ca' dei Frati.

Today, Wednesday, June 30th, at 7:30 p.m., a new restaurant is being introduced to the city of Venice: the Ca’ dei Frati. The inauguration cocktail party will be attended by representatives of the city, who will be able to sample some of the gastronomic offerings of chef Gabriele Enrico.

Open only in the evening. The personnel in formal attire sets a decidedly elegant tone. The magic of the setting is coupled with a highly sophisticated and exquisitely creative cuisine with a Mediterranean flavour, combined with innovative techniques. Lavish care is devoted to the selection of the ingredients and the finest local products in an exaltation of fragrances, tastes and colours, with surprisingly inventive presentations of the dishes.

Housed in the old laundry rooms of the Camaldolese monastery, built here in 1131, the Ca’ dei Frati provides a compelling setting. The view, especially, is striking: large windows run along the length of the restaurant, looking out onto the court of the Camaldolese on one side with a pretty view of the Church of San Clemente’s bell tower, and on the other onto the Lagoon in a night-time landscape dotted with lights, with San Marco just a short distance away. The interior is charming as well: velvets, gold and glittering crystal, the soft gleam of candlelight, the plates decorated with fine gold…

Located inside the San Clemente Palace, a five-star luxury hotel opened on the island of San Clemente by the Italian company Turin Hotels International on 15 April 2003, the Ca’ dei Frati is reached by a shuttle boat service – free for restaurant guests – that leaves Piazza San Marco every 20 minutes (dock in front of the Compagnia della Vela).
